Description
English: In this alabaster wall relief, the Assyrian king Tiglath-pileser III stands over an enemy's right shoulder. The king is being greeted by a high-ranking official and both are surrounded by attendants. The cuneiform inscriptions above narrate one of the king's Campaign in modern-day Iran. From the Central Palace (re-used in the South-West Place) at Nimrud (modern-day Ninawa Governorate, Iraq), Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian period, circa 728 BCE. The British Museum, London.
