As crown prince of Assyria, Ashur-nadin-shumi was installed by his father as [[Kings of Babylon|King of Babylon]] about 699 BC. In 694 BC when Sennacherib attacked southern [[Elam]] in pursuit of Chaldaean rebels, the Elamites attacked Babylon.
