New page

Zawita (Zawîte,زاويتة, ܙܘܝܬܐ), is an historically Assyrian town of about 5,000 people in the Dohuk Governorate.
The name of the village is thought to come from Syriac ܙܘܝܬܐ meaning "corner."

A number of Assyrian Christian-owned businesses in the village were looted and burned downed during the 2011 Dohuk riots.
