التقويم القومي الكلداني / أهلاً بشهر تموز

Dear beloved Chaldeans and friends … July is the fourth month in the Babylonian Calendar and the seventh month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars. The current name was derived from the Roman general Julius Caesar. However, our ancestors who created the first calendar, named this month Tammuz (Dumuzi in Sumerian) in honor of god of fertility and the Date-palm Tree, symbolizing the powers of the new life in nature.

In our stolen homeland and all over the world there are three Chaldean significant events in Tammuz: Chaldeans celebrate the First Sunday of July that marks the Day of the Indigenous People of Iraq (Chaldeans), an event intended to ring the bill in order to reminding everyone that we are still here and we will never vanish in the dark, so it is better to be recognized in the Iraqi Constitution as the Only Native People of Iraq. This event is vital for everyone who appreciates human rights. Chaldeans also celebrate the 14th of July being a double event, defeating the ancient Persian invaders (the nomadic Guteans) by King Utu-khegal on Tammuz 14, 2120 BC, as well as ending the Monarchy on July 14, 1958 AD. Chaldean Mandaeans also celebrate the Mandaean New Year (Dahwa Raba) on July18, 2020.

Furthermore, If you live in the United States, you know what the Fourth of July means a lot to the country and especially to the patriotic Americans and the Chaldeans who lost their Homeland. Each year, from coast to coast, millions of proud Americans come together to celebrate America's independence, so Happy Birthday America our new home of hope … Sweet Home! … Amer Hanna Fatuhi, Ph.D.
